Pre-wedding shoots are challenging to plan and execute. You can choose a date, location, and what you want to wear on your shoot. But you don’t have such liberty with weddings.

You have to abide by the rules of Indian weddings.

A free hand to plan your pre-wedding shoot can be a confusing and daunting task. Being a wedding photographer, I get many calls for pre-wedding packages and availability.

95% of couples calling me also want my recommendations on choosing a pre-wedding place. I have created a separate list for Pune and Mumbai.

I have some spiritual connection with Hyderabad. There is a sense of happiness and joy that runs through my body whenever I land in the city for a shoot.

I shoot many weddings in Hyderabad which leads to couples recommending my name again and again. But the questions regarding pre-wedding shoots remain the same.

So I decided to list them down in a blog post so that couples can easily refer to them.  Here are some famous pre-wedding shoot places in Hyderabad.

20 Pre-Wedding Shoot Locations in Hyderabad

Before we go through the list there are some important things to keep in mind. For any pre-wedding location you choose, you need to take prior written permission. 

A pre-wedding shoot pricing will and should vary depending on the location you opt for. The pre-wedding packages vary as the permission cost and travel cost.

Also, the amount of effort required and the time will vary depending on the location. For eg: a shoot at a big resort may cost you more than a Charminar, simply because of location cost at Charminar is zero and it is in the heart of the city. It will take less time to shoot and travel.

1. Charminar

Charminar needs no introduction. It is a UNESCO-listed iconic place with a rich history that was built in 1591 in the old city of Hyderabad. The image of Hyderabad is synonymous with the image of Charminar. 

Pros of choosing: It is an ideal choice for NRIs who live abroad or someone who deeply associates with the city. No prior permission is required if you are having your pre-wedding shoot around the Charminar.

Cons: You will have to come for a shoot early morning to avoid the rush of tourists and bazaars.

Permission Cost: Nil

Approx Shoot Time: 2 hours

2. Golconda Fort

It is another iconic tourist place in Hyderabad that is commonly used for photoshoots. It is a well-maintained fort with a garden area that can be exploited by a skilled photographer.

Pros of choosing: Pay on the spot for camera and permission charges. The place offers many spots to bring variation into the shoot. Check my Golconda pre-wedding photoshoot to see the scope of location for different shots.

Cons: Like any public/tourist place, some couples may feel awkward posing and getting the shoot done. No place to change clothing unless you are comfortable changing in washrooms. Also, you can shoot during open hours (9 AM-5:30 PM) only so you may not get the sunrise shots. 

Permission Cost: under Rs.1000.

Approx Shoot Time: 4 hours

3. Chowmahalla Palace

A beautiful palace with the old-world charm of Nizams. It is the perfect and preferred choice for exquisite weddings. Every year, many couples get married at Chowmahalla Palace. If you are planning to get married over here, it can be used for some gorgeous pre-wedding shots a few days before the wedding.

Pros of choosing: A right mix of garden and old rustic palace shots.

Cons: Prior permission is required unless you are well-versed with Indian ways to get permission on the spot.

Permission Cost: not available.

Approx Shoot Time: 4 hours.

4. Ramoji Film City

Ramoji Film City is a jewel of the Telugu film industry with so many movies being shot every year. Interestingly, the film city is open for holding weddings and pre-weddings as well.

It is situated on the Vijayawada highway around 37 km away from Hyderabad city center. It has many restaurants as well as hotels if you plan to stay in Ramoji city for multiple days of shooting.

It has a variety of theme parks that can be used for the pre-wedding photoshoot. Some of my personal favorites are the Bahubali set, Mughal garden, Japanese garden, and Sahas Adventure theme park.

Pros of choosing: A convenient option away from the city chaos with multiple options to choose from. With an experienced pro photographer, you can get some memorable results.

Cons: Expensive.

Permission Cost: Rs.40,000 onwards and varies depending on the theme park.

Approx Shoot Time: 1-2 days.

5. Botanical Garden

Hyderabad Botanical Garden is also known as Kotla Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy Botanical Garden. It is situated in Kondapur, HI-TECH City around 17 km from the city. It opens early morning at 5:30 AM.

It is a beautiful and well-maintained park that can be an ideal pre-wedding location in Hyderabad for a couple who are on a budget.

Pros of choosing: Pay on the spot for location charges and less travel time. 

Cons: The number of good spots within the garden is few so most of the shots will look similar to each other. There is no option for a proper changing room. Lastly, the charges have increased considerably in the last few years and do not make it worth the investment.

Permission Cost: Rs.6000/-

Approx Shoot Time: 3-4 hrs

6. Taj Falaknuma Palace

It is a beautiful palace built by Nizams in 1894 and is situated in the heart of the city. It is private property with a city view as it is built on the hillock.

The Taj took over the palace and started restoring in 2000 and the restoration was completed in 2010. Over the last 12 years, it has witnessed many luxury destination weddings and guests from all over the world.

Pros of choosing: The most royal wedding and pre-wedding one can opt for in Hyderabad. 

Cons: Very Expensive.

Permission Cost: Not open to pre-weddings for the general public anymore. You need to have a wedding hosted at the venue or some contacts for the shoot.

Approx Shoot Time: 1 day

7. Qutb Shahi Tombs

A reminiscent past of the Qutab Shahi dynasty is around 1 Km away from the north of Golconda fort. 

Pros of choosing: Easily accessible from Golconda Fort and can be clubbed as an add-on location to Golconda Fort for a few shots.

Cons: Good for only a few shots and not a full pre-wedding shoot.

Permission Cost: Rs.25.

Approx Shoot Time: 1 hour.

8. Taramati Baradari

As the name suggests, it is an old monument with 12 doors at the top of the hill. It has an open-air auditorium, banquet hall, and restaurant.

Pros of choosing: It is generally secluded or very few people during the first half of the day. It makes it an ideal place with better chances of people not intruding into the frame.

Cons: Baring few shots, there is not much scope for a proper pre-wedding photoshoot

Permission Cost: Nil

9. Fort Grand Resorts

Fort Grand is located in Shamshabad, 30 km away from the city near the outer ring road. It is a popular wedding venue in Hyderabad. It has a big lawn and an eye-catching fort facade that can be a perfect backdrop for a pre-wedding.

Pros of choosing: You can pick the venue for its unique fort look with the advantages of shooting in a resort. You will get privacy to get some romantic shots and the opportunity to change dresses. You can add variety to your shoot with a few indoor shots to add a royal touch.

Cons: Expensive location charges. The limited number of shots with unique backdrops can be an issue. The lawn is huge and is an asset for large gatherings but for pre-wedding couple shoots the spots will be limited. The same issue will be for the fort as a backdrop. Pick a photographer who is creative with poses and highlights the couple’s chemistry.

Permission Cost: Rs.75,000/-.

Approx Shoot Time: 3-4 hours.

10. The Hidden Castle Resort

If you are looking for a fort or a castle look in your pre-wedding option, this is another option you can consider. It has a beautiful castle with a bridge on a canal. It is surrounded by a lush green lawn. Both of these make an elegant backdrop for pre-wedding pictures.

It has an adventure arena and royal interiors as well that be used for a few pictures to bring variety to your shoot.

Pros of choosing: The variety of spots is the biggest attraction.

Cons: Quite far from the city and requires 2.5 hours drive to reach the venue. Also, it can be tiring for couples to walk and use the entire facility.

Permission Cost: Rs. 25,000/- onwards

Approx Shoot Time: 4 to 6 hours.

11. Alankrita Resort

The Alankrita Resort is another beautiful venue for boutique destination weddings and pre-weddings. It is around 24 km away from the city and may take an hour to reach the resort.

You can some old rustic shots with the villa and garden as a backdrop at Srirastu lawns. You can also use the outdoor entertainment arena that includes a tennis court, swimming pools, and a small water park.

You can get some interesting shots at Nritya and Tapasya lawns.

Pros of choosing: When you consider the benefits of shooting in a resort along with the price. It has become the best pre-wedding location in Hyderabad.

Cons: You will get many similar-looking shots. If you are looking for a grand look in your pre-wedding shoot then you may want to look elsewhere.

Permission Cost: Rs.11,000/- onwards

Approx Shoot Time: 4 hours.

12. Lotus Pond

The Lotus Pond is in the heart of Hyderabad. It is ideally a place for morning and evening walks then a proper shoot. It is quite a clean park ideally suited for walks. Its opening timings are 6 am to 10 am and then reopens at 4 pm to 8 pm.

Pros of choosing: For a quick morning pre-wedding shoot without a plan or someone who is looking for a budget pre-wedding shoot.

Cons: It cannot be considered a proper pre-wedding location as the venue has a walking track around a pond. Morning walkers can come in and out of frame which can make couples conscious.

Permission Cost: Nil.
Approx Shoot Time: 2 hours

13. Hussain Sagar Lake (Tank Bund)

It is an iconic tourist place in Hyderabad with an 18 m-high statue of Gautam Buddha in the middle of a huge lake. 

True blue love for Hyderabad will bring you here for a few shots around the lake and Necklace Road.

Pros of choosing: Easily accessible any time of the day

Cons: It is not an ideal location for pre-wedding shots. More suited for a few casual couple shots.

Permission Cost: Nil

Approx Shoot Time: 2 hours.

14. Ameenpur Lake

It is another popular place for shooting pre-weddings around the lake. It is located 22 km away from Hyderabad in Miyapur, Telangana.

Ameenpur is a biodiversity heritage site so be an environment-conscious visitor and do not litter.

It is a paradise for bird photography as one can find a wide variety of birds like flamingos, pelicans, grey herons, kingfishers, etc.

Pros of choosing: Best for a few romantic shots around the misty lake in the winter mornings.

Cons: You will not get a variety in the shots.

Permission Cost: Nil.

15. Durgam Cheruvu Lake Front Park

It is one of the better options for lake-side pre-wedding. Also known as the Secret Lake, is situated in Hi-Tech City.

With so many movie shootings happening in this venue, it can be a perfect choice for your romantic shoot.

The main attraction of this park is a cable bridge, boating, a rock garden, and a sunset point.

Pros of choosing: Easily accessible.

Cons: Always crowded. No early morning access.

Permission Cost: Under Rs.1000.

Approx Shoot Time: 4 hours.

16. NTR Gardens

It is a small park close to Hussain Sagar Lake and Lumbini Park

Pros of choosing: Ideal for couples on a budget and can be clubbed with other nearby locations as a part of the pre-wedding package.

Cons: Public place and a limited number of shots.

Permission Cost: Nil

Approx Shoot Time: 1 hour

17. Lumbini Park

It is another small park near Hussain Sagar Lake, NTR Park, and Birla Mandir.

Pros of choosing: Include it in your itinerary if you are planning your shoot around Hussain Sagar Lake.

Cons: It is a public place and will spoil shots with a crowd coming into the shots.

Permission Cost: Nil

Approx Shoot Time: 1 hour

I personally don’t like pre-wedding sets that mushroom on the outskirts of every city. Hyderabad is no different. I know many couples love them and photographers are open to shooting wherever their couples want them to shoot.

I feel the chemistry couple is always missing as the location does not have a natural environment.

The couples are not professional models and it is difficult for them to perform on a set most importantly, it is easily visible that the shoot was done on a set.

Let us look at some outdoor set options if it is your preferred choice.

18. The Mayabazar

The Maya Bazar is a studio with many sets tailor-made for photoshoots. It is situated in Shamshabad around 34 km away from Hyderabad.

Pros of choosing: 20 sets with changing room.

Cons: The look of the shoot may not appeal to everyone.

Permission Cost: Rs.25,000 onwards.

Approx Shoot Time: 4 hours

19. The Foto Garage

The Foto Garage is situated in Aziznagar-Nagireddyguda village around 25 km from the city center.

Pros of choosing: Concept-based photoshoots with over 30 sets

Cons: All shoots look the same with no unique element.

Permission Cost: not available.

Approx Shoot Time: 4 hours.

20. The Shooting Spot

The Shooting Spot is another option situated at Shamirpet, Secunderabad around 50 km from the city.

Pros of choosing: Over 45 backdrops or sets to choose from

Cons: Quite far from the city.

Permission Cost: 13,000 onwards
